What is Music Making Memories?

Music Making Memories is a program that I started where I, or one of my 9 volunteers, visit Alzheimer's and Dementia care residences and homes in the Johnson County, KS area. We spend time in small settings with those suffering from Alzheimer's and sing songs from the 40's, 50's and 60's to help relieve anxiety and spark memories for those suffering.
This is Donna. She has Alzheimer's and this terrible disease has taken her memories, but not her ability to harmonize with me. She doesn't remember any more, but she was in a singing quartet when she was in her teens.
I started Music Making Memories over 3 years ago because I saw a need in our community. During this time we have entertained and spent quality time with hundreds of residents of Alzheimer's care homes in the Kansas City region.
